How This Began...

 

Over the last several years, I've participated in a myriad of online forums and discussions about business strategies. And while I got so much of out of those meetings, I noticed that I was always one of two, if not the only BIPOC person, in these groups--every time! And because there are not a lot of "us" in the industry, I felt like there was never really a place where I could go to propose the questions I was too afraid to ask.

 

So, at the start of 2021, I started my own:  Business Strategies for Minorities.

To keep it simple, this is an open monthly Zoom call to discuss all things business as it relates to the interior design industry. On these calls, I will act as the moderator, but I will not be the only one offering opinions, advice, and suggestions. I am expecting everyone to offer insight and experiences from which we all benefit. This is not about me…it’s about US! 

 

While there are never a ton of people on the call at one time, I do expect each participant to be willing to be open, to speak honestly, and to share. If you’re coming to just get something out of the meeting, you’ll miss the point.

 

• This is about sharing resources, vendors, suppliers, and industry partners!

• It’s about being honest about the struggles, the horror stories, and the traps to avoid!

• It’s about discussing money, profit margins+additional sources of income!

• It’s about systems, structures, and actionable items to take, to streamline the business!

 

It’s about being a resource to others…as they will be to you!

 

WE are out here. WE need help. And I honestly believe that in our own community of successful designers…WE will find it.
